“If people don’t go to the river, the river must come to the people”
Soundtide is an interactive, site-specific urban sound installation located along a 70-meter stretch of the Danube Canal, adjacent to the cycle path. Passersby can hear a musical scale comprised of five progressively louder falling water drop sounds, which are triggered by the movement of pedestrians and cyclists.
The waterdrop sounds can be heard independently of each other through 5 small loudspeakers installed at a height of approximately 4 m. When switched on by movement, they play for approximately 10 seconds each.
The work explores how people interact with water in urban areas and questions the accessibility of urban water surfaces for city residents.
